We were nervous

1. The first poem describes a moment when I take a class in English for the first time. When I was a junior high school student, I learned English in earnest for the first time. I was looking forward to a class in English. But I got nervous about my clumsy English. So, I took a class in English with feeling mixed with hope and fear. But my English teacher spoke gently to me. “Hello! Yuya! What’s up?” She cared me and relieved my tension. So thanks to her, I enjoyed the class. 

2. The second poem describes the moment when I talk with my ALT for the first time. When I was a elementary school student, there is the class in English every week. And the ALT comes the class once per two weeks. When I meet her for the first time, I was afraid her. I didn’t know what she think, and how I communicate with her. But she spoke to me. “Hello! Nice to meet you! What’s your name?” She is bright and cheerful. My uneasiness vanished. The day when ALT come the class in English became special day.

3. The third poem describes the moment when I made the book of haiku.When I was a first grader university student, I made the haiku in English lesson. I can make the haiku in Japanese. When I was a elementary school student, I made the haiku in Japanese in the class of Japanese. But I had never made the haiku in English. So I was very surprised. But as I heard the teacher’s explanation, I had understood how to make the haiku in English. Making the haiku in japanese told me interestingness of using English.

When I was in the middle of the midterm exam week, I worried very much. In the test day, I was also tense very much. So, I was impatient about many exam questions. As a result, my score was so bad. I studied English very hard because I wanted to remember lyrics of the song. When I remembered lyrics of the song, my English vocabulary increased very much. And, studying English was a lot of fun. I knew the pleasure of studying English.

My name is Yuya Suwa.  I am nineteen years old. I am from Maebashi.  I attend Gunma university . Last year, I attended there by train and bicycle. But I got a driver’s license. So I attend there by my car now. I am a second year university student. My major is Japanese. I belong to football circle ” CRAFT”. I usually play football every  week. I have played soccer for twelve years. So I want to play it from now on. I have studied English for about seven years. I have studied it in a kind of situations. All memories are very important for me.

The theme of the book is “My English memories”. I have studied English for about seven years. I have studied it in a kind of situations ; in class, my house, school trip, and so on. This book traces my footsteps about studying English. Writing poems about studying English is a way to trace my footsteps and tell readers my feelings at the moment. I took up ten memories which I was impressive and interesting. English is not used in daily life. So English isn’t important in daily life. But, through this work, I recognize importance of learning English and the fun of learning English.

I can not understand this article well, but I can understand some points about poetry writing.

In this article, poems about the 2011 Great east Japan earthquake are analyzed by Dr.Atsushi Iida. Because those poems are written by second language writers, so there are direct responses and emotional concerns from this traumatic event.

As a result, a kind of expressions are seen in poetry writing . The one seen in particular is unique “biliterate”voice.This is based on the second language writer’s flexible dual language word choice and phraseology.Consequently, they express their feeling by the way of speaking English speakers can’t copy.

・Reason

I like this poem better than any other, because I feel the strongest message from this poem.

“People are in surprise. People are in sad.”express fear and despair of people.We feel misery of the 2011 great east Japan earthquake. But “people take action quietly and strongly “express forcefulness of people. They get over miserable facts and behave positively. So I understand “For oneself ,For our own companion, And for the future ” is the thought with which they are being supported .They do the thing which should be done without making complaints. I admire their spirits.

I also want to do a kind of things like them.When I was a junior high school student, I belong to soccer club. We practiced hard everyday. But the first match has been defeated by the last meet. I feel all our efforts went down the drain. And the willpower was lost. So, I want to glow with everything like them.
